Branding Candidates via Marketing. Are Americans this shallow and careless?

January 4, 2010 Posted by admin

I noticed, as a marketing major, that Americans are very easily swayed by brand names. Unfortunately, I think we have been picking our Presidents the same way that we pick our shoes and clothes.

Does anyone notice how Hillary and Obama are being placed(one of the 4 P’s of marketing) like high end products, and Kucinich and Paul(whom most Americans would likely be more comfortable with and safe) are being branded like Wally Wear? I guess this is what they call psychopolitics. Kinda like that Psychology of Consumerism class I recently took that taught me how to sell ice to an Eskimo.

Absolutely.. and the unfortunate part is that America is buying it. I’m sorry but I’ve done extensive research on all Giuliani, Clinton and Obama, I cannot vote for them. It is apparent with all their corporate sponsors, and ever changing stances that they do not have the best interests of the average American at heart.

I am backing Ron Paul..

How is a brand built?- Marketing, Branding question?

January 1, 2010 Posted by admin

in particular, Playboy.
In university my group in marketing have to answer a question, "Explain the components of a brand and how it is built…."
any help would be appreciated,

http://blog.promopeddler.com/ideas-guru/ask-a-question.html

Feel free to ask me a question about branding. I can tell you the main, numero uno thing to build a brand and it is consistency. Consistency to what you say you are, consistency in the way you portray you are and consistency in the way you look or are perceived in the marketplace.

Why is planning important in marketing?

January 1, 2010 Posted by admin

What are the essential components of a marketing plan? How would you convince your supervisor that the marketing department should produce formal marketing plans?

Marketing is not just a one-way nor a short-time process. Marketing plays a big role in your company’s development. With these things in mind, you need to have a comprehensive marketing plan in order to "not waste any time, effort and budget" on the execution process.

Convincing the marketing department is not that hard at all when you have facts to prove that you need to have a good marketing foundation by producing credible marketing plan. You need to get the company’s financial status: expenses, budget, income, investment, etc. and be able to have a brief discussion on how you could double your investment and save costs by keenly creating a "standard" plan in marketing.

How do I start up a promotional marketing company?

January 1, 2010 Posted by admin

I am 23, attending business school and a former promotional model. I would like to know the steps to take in establishing my own company. Any advice would be sincerely appreciated!

well, it usually starts with an idea… and depending on that idea, there are a number of ways to go about starting it up. If your business is online, you need to first set up all the technical stuff like buying a domain and getting tracking on it. Then, you have to think about branding and creating a buzz to get people to the website. lately i have been seeing a lot of various ways to get this traffic. i actually just ran into this online contest that a company started. you just submit a contest idea and if it wins the company will manage the contest for free. here is the link if you think it would help your company: http://contestconcept.com/

What kind of marketing/promotion do college football teams do?

January 1, 2010 Posted by admin

I mean to spur fan attendance to the games.

Besides their sales of specialty items…
Publicity and radio/TV broadcasts are big time
Local papers, TV, news, radio all "promote" the games, ticket sales and availability etc etc as "a public service" — they do not sponsor.
Of course, booster owned business, including media, make sure that
they promote to fans.
News constantly reports on weather etc traffic etc. airline, hotel etc
availability, bowl packages offered thru _______, _______, & __________ the hype doesn’t end.
I don’t even think pro teams get as much coverage for all that –
especially compared to areas where college ball is big time.

Best way to look for a marketing position?

January 1, 2010 Posted by admin

I recently got married, but my contractor position is set to expire soon, so I’m scrambling to find a new job. Can you offer any suggestions on how I can more effectively look for a marketing job in the San Jose area?

I usually apply online (HotJobs, etc.), but that doesn’t seem to be very effective. I’ve also thought about going through an employment agency, but I don’t know how effective they are. I have a few years of marketing experience, so I’m at that ‘tweener stage: not entry-level, but not management level either.

Try Craigslist. I found my dream job on this site and was just hired. I had little success with HotJobs, Aol or careerbuilder. Also try sending resumes out to companies that may not be hiring. You never know when a position opens up so be the first in line. Good luck. I hope you find a great job soon!
